Ditch the Mask!
Jan 28, 2020Check out this episode where I talk about three truths that I've learned in regards to being perfect when others are trying to help you:
1. People that want to help you aren't looking for perfection, they're looking for where they can fill-in and help you. If you're pretending and painting a perfect picture of yourself, you're lying and causing people around you who want to help, to totally mis-diagnose the problem and solution.
2. Accepting help doesn't make you weak, vulnerable yes...but not weak. You're not ever going to be perfect and heck probably according to you, it's never perfect.
3. Accept the issue at hand before trying to change it. Whatever your situation is, putting it into context is truly vital. Know why you ended up where you are and be ok with that, before trying to take action. Otherwise you will risk falling backwards and worse than before!
Growth doesn't come from perfect, it comes from that childhood that caused you to be resilient, that diagnosis that challenges your strength, that relationship that called for bravery and courage...all of that is making you a beautiful mosaic, worth discovering and loving. Don't deprive the world of your gifts, by hiding behind a "perfect" that never existed!
In closing I'd like to leave you with a quote by Brene Brown "Perfectionism is self destructive simply because there's no such thing as perfect. Perfection is an unattainable goal. " Talk to ya soon!
